German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz declared that the world is experiencing an epochal turning point.
He called for patience regarding the reforms planned by his country's government.
According to Oxu.Az citing TASS, Mertz spoke at an economic conference organized by the authorities of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
He described the situation facing Germany as a "two-fold challenge."
"This concerns geo-economics, and the upheavals the world is currently experiencing are added to our country's accumulated structural problems. Together, they make it necessary to take action. Moreover, it creates the need for the most large-scale measures we have seen in recent decades, if not since the end of World War II," Mertz noted.
He also stated that it is not just about a cyclical crisis or structural problems: "We are witnessing a deep epochal turning point that every generation experiences once. Since World War II, until now, we have simply been lucky," the German Chancellor claimed.
