The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns that 2026-2030 will likely be one of the hottest periods on record.
Scientists estimate an 86% chance that at least one of these years will surpass 2024's record heat.
Average annual temperatures will be 1.3-1.9°C above pre-industrial levels. There is a 91% probability that at least one year will exceed the 1.5°C threshold.
The Arctic will warm three times faster than the global average, with winter temperatures about 3°C higher than late 20th century. Sea ice extent will decrease in the Barents, Bering, and Okhotsk seas.
Northern Europe, Siberia, and Africa will become wetter, while the Amazon will become drier.
