Abnormal heat in France has led to a catastrophic rise in deaths. Paris morgues are full, and crematoriums are preparing for record loads.
Fabien Hugue, director of "Family Obsèques," told BFMTV that the situation is critical. Gothier Caton, official representative of the National Federation of Funeral Services, confirmed that all morgues in the capital are full.
On June 26 alone, 109 people died in Paris, 15 times higher than the average. Hospital deaths are not included.
Cremation dates have been postponed, and bodies are being sent to other regions. France declared the highest alert level in 72 departments. Temperatures exceeded 40°C.
The situation recalls the COVID-19 crisis. Extreme heat continues to challenge infrastructure and healthcare across Europe.
