Prince William is preparing to sell approximately one-fifth of the vast Duchy of Cornwall estates as part of a £500 million plan to address housing and environmental crises in the UK.
According to the Daily Mail, the sale will fund affordable housing projects in Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, and south London, with £160 million allocated. The Duchy aims to build 10,000-12,000 new homes by 2040 on land near urban areas.
An additional £20 million will be invested in nature restoration programs in partnership with conservation organizations and government agencies.
The Prince of Wales, who inherited the Duchy after his father became king, plans to sell part of his billion-pound portfolio over the next decade while focusing investments on key areas. As the 25th Duke of Cornwall, William earns approximately £23 million annually from estates valued at over £1 billion, including land, farms, residential and commercial properties. These funds support the official, charitable, and private lives of William, Catherine, and their children—George, Charlotte, and Louis.
