Armored vehicles and armed forces are deployed across the city, while Taliban patrols on motorcycles move through the streets. In Dashti Barchi, patrols are checking residents and questioning them about their activities.
"Afghanistan International" writes that Herat residents report seeing hundreds of soldiers with light and heavy weapons, including tanks and artillery, on the streets. Military vehicles carrying armed men have been moving through the city since June 11, monitoring civilians and conducting searches.
A similar situation has emerged in Kabul, according to the publication.
AFP reports that Afghan authorities have deployed military equipment to Herat, where protests over new restrictions on women have been ongoing for several days. Since June 10, security forces have been deployed, checking people's phones.
On June 11, additional checkpoints with military vehicles, armed police, and intelligence agents were established throughout the city. One resident stated that people have abandoned plans to hold demonstrations.
Earlier, new rules for women were published in Herat, including a ban on cosmetics and mandatory socks and masks. Violators face detention and imprisonment.
