The Tariff Council has set toll rates for the alternative highway.
According to Oxu.Az, the Council announced that within the framework of large-scale restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories, the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway was built as an alternative to boost socio-economic development, tourism potential, and transport links between strategically important areas.
By a decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated April 1, 2026, this road was designated as a toll road. Under the law, alternative toll roads can be created when a free road meeting state standards exists, and use of the toll road is optional.
The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads applied to the Council for approval of toll amounts for the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway, and this issue was considered today.
The toll with VAT for passenger cars and trucks up to 3.5 tons is set at 8.6 qepik per km (6.99 manat for the entire road). For trucks over 3.5 tons and other machinery, the toll is 10.6 qepik per km (approx. 8.62 manat). Buses will pay 7.1 qepik per km (5.77 manat), and vehicles with trailers, semi-trailers, including those with three or more axles, will pay 17.7 qepik per km (14.39 manat).
The Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway is 19.7 km shorter than the conventional road and has a higher speed limit. The shorter distance and higher speed will allow users to save both time and fuel.
The meeting also set tolls for motorcycles: 4.65 qepik per km on the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road and 5 qepik on the M-1 Baku-Quba-Russia state border road.
Funds from these tolls will be used for maintenance, protection, repair, management, design, reconstruction, and construction of toll highways and other roads.
The decision will take effect tomorrow.
