Bond.az -- The death toll from a chemical tank rupture at a paper mill in Washington state has reached 11 after recovery teams found the bodies of all nine missing workers, Reuters reported Saturday.
Two deaths were confirmed earlier this week. The tank contained 'white liquor,' a mix of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide.
Search operations involved drones surveying the area. The tank held approximately 900,000 gallons of the chemical.
Contamination entered the Columbia River, but no impact on drinking water has been detected.
The cause of the rupture remains under investigation. The facility is owned by Japan's Nippon Paper Industries.
This is one of Washington's deadliest industrial accidents in recent years.
