“We believe that the genocide did not end in 1984, it simply continues in different forms.”
Oxu.Az reports that this statement was made by Chahal Akashdeep Singh, Chairman of the “Panth Punjab” Project, in an interview with journalists at an international conference titled “June 1984, Amritsar events: India's transnational repression against ethnic minorities in the context of genocide,” organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).
“Through transnational repression, India targets Sikh political activists beyond its borders. Such incidents have occurred in Canada and the UK. There was also an attempt in the US, but fortunately it was prevented by the US government.
“Looking at how far we have come since 1984, we see that the struggle for Sikhs still continues. We are still fighting for our rights, freedom and place,” emphasized Akashdeep.
