Political analyst Rashad Bayramov commented on the US-Iran peace talks in Switzerland, calling it the start of a new diplomatic phase in the Middle East.
According to Bayramov, a roadmap was agreed upon for a final deal within 60 days. A communication line was established for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and a group was formed to monitor the ceasefire in Lebanon.
The analyst emphasized that the main problem is deep mistrust between the parties. The US does not fully trust Iran's commitments, while Iran seeks guarantees that Washington will not withdraw from the agreement. Israel's stance also pressures the negotiations.
Bayramov believes that sustainable peace requires mutual trust, the positions of regional actors, and long-term political will.
