Armenia could theoretically buy natural gas from Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, or Iran. This was stated by Mesrop Mesropyan, head of Armenia's Public Services Regulatory Commission, during a briefing.
Journalists asked Mesropyan about possible alternatives to Russian gas. He said he does not participate in political decisions, but noted that gas supply from neighboring countries is possible.
Mesropyan suggested that Russian gas could become more expensive for Armenia, but no official information has been received. Russia's Foreign Ministry warned that if Armenia continues EU accession, the gas supply agreement may be terminated.
