People from around the world have come to Baku to discuss serious issues such as colonialism and the housing problem.
According to Oxu.Az, this was stated by Richard Byron-Koks, advisor to the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, in an interview with journalists at an international conference on "The Role of Youth in Urban Planning in the Decolonization Process," organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
He noted that the conference discusses how to solve the problem fairly: "Azerbaijan is important because someone had to bring people together, and Baku succeeds in uniting people. We must also understand that the world is full of problems, and one of the challenges we face in many places, especially in countries with a colonial past, is housing. Solving the housing problem is not a simple task. First, you need money to build housing; second, land; third, experience; fourth, the ability to bring all these resources together. So solving the housing problem is not easy. But furthermore, we must understand that most of these countries were colonies. That means they were governed for the interests of others. When a country is a colony, it is governed from abroad. The solutions to all these problems are being discussed in Baku."
