President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction that his initiative to hold the 100th anniversary of the First Turkology Congress has been realized.
He made the remarks in an address to participants of the Turkic World Week, dedicated to the congress anniversary.
The President recalled proposing the initiative in October last year during the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala.
He noted the symbolic significance of the Turkic World Week coinciding with Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the organization.
The First Turkology Congress, held at the Ismailiyya Palace, played a crucial role in the cultural integration of Turkic peoples.
