Amid the disarmament process of Iran-linked armed groups in Iraq, "Harakat al-Nujaba" has stated that its weapons are not directed against the Iraqi government.
According to the group's representatives, their weapons are seen as a key bargaining tool in negotiations for the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.
The group said they will not hand over their weapons until Iraq is completely free from US military presence.
However, the issue has broader regional implications. "Harakat al-Nujaba" is a Shia militia active in Syria and Iraq. Experts highlight Iran's influence on Iraq's security policy.
Notably, Hezbollah in Lebanon also refuses to disarm. Iran is linked to various groups in Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen.
Following Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis, Iran-backed groups in Iraq could create new flashpoints in the region.
