From June 22 to July 2, the Bootid meteor shower will be visible. The peak is expected on June 27 at approximately 21:00 Baku time.
According to Baku State University's Astrophysics Department, the radiant is in the constellation Boötes. It will be above the horizon all night from Baku.
The source is comet 7P/Pons-Winnecke, discovered in 1819, with an orbital period of 6.37 years.
Meteors enter the atmosphere at 18 km/s, slower than typical showers, leaving long trails. In normal years, only 1-5 meteors per hour are observed. However, outbursts occurred in 1916 (hundreds per hour), 1998 (50-100), and 2004 (20-50).
Weak activity is expected in 2026. The nearly full moon will hinder faint meteor visibility.
