Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered the restoration of international internet access, state media reported Monday, ending a nearly 90-day blackout following the war against the U.S. and Israel.
The mechanism for reconnection remains unknown. Most Iranians have been without global web access for 87 days, according to NetBlocks. Only expensive VPNs provide limited access.
The blackout began January 8 during anti-government protests, partially lifted in February, then reimposed after U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28.
Even normally, internet is heavily censored, with authorities relying on an intranet for services like online schooling.
