The U.S. Justice Department on Friday announced the arrest of an Iraqi national accused of involvement in attacks against American interests in Europe and the United States.

Mohammad Baqer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi is charged as a senior member of the Iran-backed militia Kata'ib Hezbollah, providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

Prosecutors allege he coordinated nearly 20 attacks across Europe and the U.S., including plots to kill on American soil.

Defense attorney Andre Dalack declined to comment on the charges but criticized the conditions of his client's solitary confinement as 'cruel and unnecessary'.
