The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has eased restrictions on importing foreign drones. It now permits the import of some lightweight Chinese-made drones.
According to Oxu.Az, citing "DroneDJ", the regulator acknowledged that certain models made in China do not pose a threat to national security.
The decision applies only to so-called "toy drones". New rules require drones to weigh a maximum of 150 grams, fly within 100 meters of direct sight, have no camera, tracking sensors, internet connection, or network features, and stay airborne for no more than 10 minutes.
FCC officials said the decision came after a review by the US Department of Defense, which concluded that these simple devices lack technical parameters that could harm national security.
Recall that in December 2025, the FCC added all Chinese-made drones and their critical components to a blacklist. However, previously certified products remained allowed for sale and use.
