Greece is the first country to use nanosatellites for instant wildfire detection.

According to Euronews, four nanosatellites are already operational. They detect fire threats and immediately alert firefighting services.

Built by Germany's OroraTech, the satellites were launched in May. Equipped with AI and thermal sensors, they can spot fires as small as 4 meters.

In Greece, the high-risk fire season runs from May 1 to October 31. Europe's ongoing heatwave has set new temperature records.
