The risk of an explosion at a toxic chemical storage facility in Los Angeles, California, has been completely eliminated.
According to Oxu.Az, citing local officials via NBC News, the threat has been neutralized.
Following the removal of the risk, a large portion of evacuated residents have been allowed to return home. The evacuation order affected 60,000 people, but 16,000 are still prohibited from returning. A final decision on their status is expected by Tuesday evening.
Earlier, state authorities had evacuated tens of thousands of people due to the threat of explosion and leakage from a toxic chemical tank belonging to GKN Aerospace Transparency. Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in Orange County. Since May 21, local services had been working to prevent the explosion of a tank filled with methyl methacrylate, a highly flammable toxic substance that causes serious respiratory issues.
