A court in Oslo has sentenced Marius Borg Høiby, son of Norway's Crown Princess, to four years in prison for two counts of rape.
According to Oxu.Az, Høiby faced 40 charges, but was convicted of two rapes, domestic violence, threats, and traffic violations.
The seven-week trial caused a major stir in Norwegian society. Evidence included Høiby's drug addiction, intimate videos, and over 800 emails.
One of the proven incidents occurred in the basement of the royal family's residence. Høiby attended the sentencing via video link.
The verdict comes amid a difficult period for the royal family. In June, Crown Princess Mette-Marit was placed on a waiting list for a lung transplant due to pulmonary fibrosis.
