Iran national team captain Mehdi Taremi has expressed frustration after journalists asked only political questions at a press conference ahead of their World Cup group stage match against New Zealand.

According to ESPN, Taremi said no one asked him about football, despite the upcoming game against a great team.

"Nobody asked me about football. Tomorrow we face an excellent team like New Zealand. I hope for a great match. For politics, journalists should go to other cities," he stated.

Taremi emphasized respect for New Zealand and wished for a successful game.
