Adding grapes to your daily diet can increase the body's resistance to ultraviolet radiation by 30% to 50%. New scientific data reveals that grapes have wider benefits for skin health.
According to Oxu.Az, citing Science Daily, volunteers consumed three servings of fresh grapes daily for two weeks. Researchers measured their skin's response to UV rays before and after the diet.
Results showed that grapes strengthened the skin's defense system in all participants. Scientists observed significant activation in processes that form the skin's protective barrier against external factors.
"Changes in gene expression indicate improved skin condition. But beyond skin, grape consumption positively affects gene activity in other body tissues such as liver, muscles, kidneys, and even the brain," said John Pezzuto, professor and dean at Western New England University's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Additionally, researchers measured malondialdehyde levels, a marker of oxidative stress. After the grape diet, participants showed significantly reduced levels, minimizing cell damage.
