A Moscow court has sentenced Russian businessman and opposition politician Mikhail Khodorkovsky in absentia.
According to Mediazona, the Meshchansky District Court found Khodorkovsky guilty of spreading "false information" about the Russian army.
The court sentenced him to 10 years in prison and banned him from administering websites for five years.
Earlier, prosecutors had demanded a 14-year sentence.
The criminal case was opened in January 2024 based on Khodorkovsky's social media posts and a YouTube video.
The investigation alleges that in September 2022, he shared a document about Russian military casualties in Ukraine, and in July 2024, he discussed strikes on the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv.
Khodorkovsky is also charged in another case. The FSB claims he and other members of the Anti-War Committee of Russia attempted to seize power and create a terrorist organization.
The basis for this case is the "Declaration of Russian Democratic Forces" signed in Berlin in 2023, calling for regime change in Russia.
In March 2024, Russia's Supreme Court designated the Anti-War Committee of Russia as a terrorist organization.
