Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the launch of the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway.
According to Oxu.Az, the Armenian leader wrote about it on his Facebook page.
'I am pleased to announce that the Akhalkalaki-Kars railway, as well as the Azerbaijani railway, are now open for export and import to Armenia. This is a major event in our country's economic life. I thank partners from Turkey and Georgia,' Pashinyan said.
He added that Armenia currently has railway connections with Russia via Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as with China through Russia and Kazakhstan. Now, this route, which passes through Georgia and Turkey and provides access to the European Union, has been added.
Furthermore, the head of the Armenian government said that direct railway connections between Armenia and Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and later between Armenia and Iran via Nakhchivan are expected to open soon.
'As a result of the implementation of the TRIPP project, we will witness these events in the near future,' Pashinyan emphasized.
