The mayor of San Miguel Amatitlan, Joel Ángel Bravo Martínez, was shot dead by armed assailants in Oaxaca, Mexico.

According to Oxu.Az, citing El Universal, the attack occurred on the morning of June 13. Gunmen entered the 53-year-old mayor's home and opened fire.

The Oaxaca State Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the murder. No further details have been disclosed.
