A horrifying incident occurred in Indonesia's North Maluku province: a giant python attacked and suffocated 44-year-old woman Elizabeth Yamalau.
The woman had gone out during the day to tend to livestock near her home. It is believed the python, hiding in the bushes, attacked her and grabbed her leg, then coiled around and strangled her.
When Elizabeth did not return home in the evening, her 52-year-old husband Benjamin Lanto went looking for her. A few meters from the house, he discovered a giant python nearly 8 meters long. Part of the woman's body was already in the snake's mouth.
The man tried to rescue his wife and killed the python by hacking it to pieces. However, by then the woman had already died. Local residents came to help and removed the body.
