The total cost of the US conflict with Iran could reach one trillion dollars.
Oxu.Az reports that CNN has released an assessment by Linda Bilmes, an expert from the Harvard Kennedy School. She considered not only short-term expenses but also the long-term perspective.
It is noted that restoring US ammunition stocks, including high-precision weapons, will take several years. The cost of a used Tomahawk missile is currently estimated at $2 million per unit, but replacement could cost about $3.5 million.
Medium and long-term service costs for equipment used in the conflict, including aircraft carrier groups, could reach tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 4-5 years. Additionally, the US will have to fulfill social obligations to 55,000 military personnel involved in the conflict.
Furthermore, the expert considered the impact of the conflict on the global economy, which has led to rising fuel and commodity prices in the US. It is not excluded that the average price of a gallon (3.785 liters) of gasoline in the United States could soon rise to $5.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the cost of US military operations against Iran has already approached $29 billion. This amount includes equipment repair and replacement costs, as well as operational expenses for maintaining personnel in the region.
