A 55-year-old man is accused of fraud after staying in a Berlin hotel for over a year without paying.

According to Oxu.Az, the Tagesspiegel newspaper reported the incident.

The local prosecutor's office said the man booked a room for his wife and two children in April 2023. He claimed his trailer had burned down and that he was suffering from cancer. These claims later turned out to be false.

The fraudster also said a car club would cover the hotel costs, which also proved untrue. Consequently, he accumulated a debt of over 100,000 euros. He left the hotel in August 2024 without paying.

In March 2025, he was arrested and later released. The investigation is ongoing.
