Every year in Gloucestershire, England, dozens of men take part in an unusual race. They chase a rolling cheese wheel down a steep hill, trying to catch it.
According to Oxu.Az citing rg.ru, 24-year-old Tom Kopke from Munich won the traditional hill race for the third consecutive time, surpassing record holder Chris Anderson.
The British man, who won 23 times, also had reason to celebrate: his 11-year-old son William won the children's race.
With roots going back to pagan spring festivals, this race is considered a long-standing tradition. The cheese rolling event is held annually in the village of Brockworth, south of Birmingham and west of Oxford.
Participants chase a cheese wheel that can reach speeds over 100 km/h. The race uses a three-kilogram wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. The goal is to catch the rolling cheese as quickly as possible before reaching the finish line.
