On May 22, the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov attended the meeting.
In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of humanitarian cooperation, noting that it remains a key area of interaction among CIS member states.
Asadov welcomed the designation of Minsk (2027) and Karaganda (2028) as CIS Youth Capitals.
He also highlighted the conclusion of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku, which gathered over 40,000 participants from 182 countries.
The forum discussed global challenges such as the housing crisis, sustainable urban development, and climate resilience.
Asadov noted that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and CIS countries increased by over 10% in 2025, with potential for further growth in investment and joint projects.
He outlined Azerbaijan's priorities in industrial, agricultural, transport, and high-tech sectors.
Green energy projects are being implemented to enhance environmental sustainability and export potential.
The reconstruction of Karabakh includes green energy zones, smart city and village concepts, creating a sustainable development model.
Azerbaijan is strengthening its role as a transport-logistics hub, with major infrastructure projects boosting transit potential and connectivity in Eurasia.
The Digital Economy Development Strategy for 2026-2029 was approved, focusing on technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
The meeting continued in a broader format, with several documents signed.
