Anzhela Makeyeva, head of the Irpin City Council and acting mayor of Irpin, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the government of Azerbaijan. She spoke at the Ukrainian national pavilion during WUF13.
Makeyeva stated that Azerbaijan is a special country for Irpin. Irpin is twinned with Azerbaijan's Lachin city, which also suffered occupation and war, and is now being rebuilt.
She thanked President Aliyev for Azerbaijan's humanitarian support. In Irpin, there is a street, park, monument, and school named after Zarifa Aliyeva. The school was one of the first restored educational institutions with support from the Azerbaijani government and SOCAR.
Makeyeva emphasized that the people of Irpin consider Azerbaijan as a brotherly nation.
