Azerbaijan has joined the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs. The ratification process is complete.

Azerbaijan joins convention against trafficking in human organs

On May 26, Azerbaijan completed the ratification process of the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs.

According to Oxu.Az, citing Report, this was stated in a declaration on the Council of Europe's website.

"Azerbaijan became the 16th country to join the Convention. The document will enter into force on September 1, 2026," the statement noted.

Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Bjørn Berge congratulated Azerbaijan and its Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Fakhraddin Ismayilov, on the ratification: "We thank you for your commitment to strengthening human rights and international cooperation."
