Azerbaijan's delegation head, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anar Aliyev, submitted the notification of the country's accession to another ILO Convention to the organization's Director-General Gilbert Houngbo at the 114th session of the International Labor Conference in Geneva.

According to the Ministry, Convention No. 187 on the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health was approved by the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan earlier this year.

During the meeting between Anar Aliyev and Gilbert Houngbo, it was highlighted that Azerbaijan has already acceded to 60 ILO conventions and is considering ratification of several others.

Within the session, Minister Anar Aliyev met with Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Protection Vedat Işıkhan, emphasizing fraternal and strategic alliance relations between the two countries. They discussed cooperation agenda and sustainable intensification of labor export collaboration.

In a meeting with Lithuanian Minister of Social Security and Labor Yurate Zaylskyene, Anar Aliyev noted broad opportunities for strengthening social ties, exploring deeper cooperation and recruitment of Azerbaijani workers for the Lithuanian labor market.

Meetings with ILO Assistant Director-General and Head of Cabinet Beate Andres and ILO Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Peter van Roy discussed expanding Azerbaijan's cooperation with the ILO in new directions.
