Baku hosts first Azerbaijan-Syria consular consultations

First Azerbaijan-Syria consular consultations held in Baku. Topics include cooperation, digitalization, and repatriation.

On June 8, Baku hosted the first consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Syria.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, head of the Consular Department, while the Syrian delegation was led by Mohammad Yagoub al-Omar.

Discussions covered the current state and prospects of consular cooperation, signing of new bilateral documents, and digitalization of consular services.

Parties exchanged information on innovations and discussed protection of citizens' rights and repatriation of Azerbaijanis from Syria.

Syria expressed interest in benefiting from Azerbaijan's experience in improving newly established consular services.
