Agreement has been reached between the governments of Azerbaijan and Russia. The Russian side will pay compensation to the heirs of Azerbaijani citizens who died in the crash.
Oxu.Az reports that Samir Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), stated this in an interview. He was answering a question regarding the downing of an AZAL aircraft in December 2024.
Rzayev added that under the agreement, the damage caused to AZAL will also be compensated by the Russian government: "The transfer of the allocated funds is planned soon. Afterwards, we will pay the money to the heirs of the deceased."
