The chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Betsy Berns Korn, and its executive director, William Daroff, sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The letter states: "We extend our warmest congratulations to you and the people of Azerbaijan on May 28 - Independence Day. On the 108th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, we appreciate the significance of this historic stage and its lasting legacy of parliamentary governance, legal equality, and inclusivity. The presence of a Jewish representative in the first parliament in 1918 is proof of Azerbaijan's long tradition of coexistence and mutual respect."
Former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma also sent a congratulatory letter. He described Azerbaijan's independence as an example of the will to reclaim lost territories.
Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar's Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Mubarak Al Sabah, and Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah also sent congratulatory letters to President Ilham Aliyev.
