Anar Karimov, Director of Partnerships and International Cooperation at ICESCO, spoke at an event held during the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
He stated that in 2024, ICESCO launched a large-scale study on the state of endangered world heritage sites. The results are alarming: out of 56 endangered sites, 33 are in Islamic countries, accounting for approximately 60%.
Karimov emphasized that this figure is rising and that ICESCO must take more active and systematic steps together with member states to prevent further loss.
