Tulsi Gabbard announced her resignation as Director of National Intelligence, citing her husband's rare bone cancer diagnosis.
In a letter to President Trump, Gabbard said she cannot ask her husband to face this fight alone while continuing in her demanding post.
Sources say Gabbard was pushed out by the White House, which had been unhappy with her for months over policy differences and other issues.
Trump praised Gabbard's work and appointed Principal Deputy Director Aaron Lukas as acting director.
