Azerbaijan fully understands all the challenges and problems faced by Global South countries. This was stated by Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President, at the General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform.
Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan considers itself part of the Global South geographically, historically, and culturally. He highlighted the fight against colonialism and neocolonialism.
During Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, combating neocolonialism was a priority. However, the UN Decolonization Committee has not yet fully fulfilled its mandate due to resistance from some countries.
