President Ilham Aliyev sent an address to participants of the international conference "Regional Contribution to Global Security: Peacebuilding in the South Caucasus" held in Shusha.
He emphasized that this event, organized since 2022, is especially significant amid complex geopolitical processes. The growing number of participants inspires confidence in the conference's future contribution to global security.
Aliyev recalled Azerbaijan's history of occupation and stated that the 44-day Patriotic War and the 2023 anti-terror operation fully restored the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, implementing UN Security Council resolutions.
He highlighted the Joint Declaration signed in Washington under the witness of US President Donald Trump and the initialing of a peace treaty, which completely changed the situation in the South Caucasus. The Zangezur Corridor will connect the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan and become a key segment of the Middle Corridor.
Aliyev noted that declaring 2026 the "Year of Urban Planning and Architecture" and hosting the UN Urban Planning Forum in Baku demonstrates Azerbaijan's humanitarian efforts. The forum showcased modern infrastructure in liberated territories to over 60,000 participants.
He stressed Azerbaijan's commitment to becoming a reliable cooperation space for Eurasia and the Turkic World. The conference, held on the anniversary of the National Salvation Day and the Shusha Declaration, aims to strengthen inter-country cooperation.
The president wished success to the conference and peace to all friendly countries.
