Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
In the letter, Rinkēvičs invited Aliyev for an official visit to Latvia.
"Your Excellency, on behalf of the Latvian people and myself, I extend sincere congratulations on your country's Independence Day. I highly value the friendly relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan. I am confident that our strategic partnership will further strengthen based on our shared commitment to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and rules-based international order," the letter reads.
Rinkēvičs thanked Aliyev for the hospitality during his April 2026 visit and expressed pleasure in inviting him to Latvia at a convenient time.
