President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan spoke at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
The "Haber Global" YouTube channel has produced a video report on the event.
Aliyev said: "This year a record number of people are participating. We have over 45,000 registered participants from 182 countries. This is the second international event after COP29. I hope the results will be successful."
He noted guests would have the chance to explore Baku and see urban development work in Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is located between Asia and Europe, reflected in its architecture. You will see the contrast between the old city and the modern Baku boulevard."
