Iran's former ambassador to Azerbaijan, Seyed Abbas Mousavi, has made controversial statements regarding the Zangezur corridor.
In an interview with SNN TV, Mousavi said Iran does not accept changes to geopolitical borders in the region.
Using the phrase "Caucasus is our home," he emphasized the region's special importance to Iran and claimed it has historically been part of Iran's sphere of influence and civilization.
The former ambassador alleged that Armenia and the US are more active in the Zangezur corridor discussions, while Azerbaijan is left out.
He sarcastically commented on the route being called the "Trump route," saying: "Trump gives his name to every place he goes."
Mousavi positively assessed Iran-Armenia relations but stressed that the presence of US companies near Iran's borders is unacceptable.
