Kenyan President William Ruto thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
Ruto noted that the first World Urban Forum was held in Nairobi in 2002, last month they hosted the African Urban Forum, and now they gather in Baku for WUF13.
“I want to express my gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan for the warm welcome and hospitality,” he said.
Ruto emphasized that about 3 billion people live in inadequate housing, 1 billion in slums, and 300 million are homeless. “These are not just dry numbers; behind them are people, families, children,” he added.
