A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in urban and territorial planning, as well as sustainable development, was signed among member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) within the framework of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13).
According to Oxu.Az, the signing ceremony took place within the High-Level Urban Dialogue of the Organization of Turkic States, which started at the Azerbaijan pavilion at the "Urban Expo" exhibition.
The OTS Secretary General emphasized that this approach is already reflected in projects implemented in the region: "Examples include the 'smart village' and 'smart city' projects implemented in Karabakh and East Zangezur in Azerbaijan, the development of Alatau and Astana based on high technologies in Kazakhstan, as well as digital monitoring initiatives for sustainable mountain urbanism in Kyrgyzstan."
"A new cooperation action plan for 2026-2027 is being prepared with the UN Habitat Program - UN-Habitat," added the Secretary General.
