The MINURVI forum, organized within the framework of WUF13, is a joint call from hundreds of Latin American cities facing one of the main problems of our time: creating decent, sustainable, and inclusive housing conditions for every resident.
According to Oxu.Az, this was stated by Carlos Krixtin, Municipal Secretary of Urban Planning of Niterói (a municipality in Brazil), at the forum of ministers and high-level officials on housing and urban planning of Latin American and Caribbean countries (MINURVI) during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
According to Krixtin, Latin America is one of the most urbanized regions on the planet.
"More than 80% of our region's population is concentrated in cities, while millions of families continue to live in poor conditions, suffering not only from deep social inequality but also from the increasing impacts of climate change. Floods, landslides, extreme heat, rising sea levels, and environmental disasters - all of these have long ceased to be threats of the distant future. They have become an integral part of the daily life of many communities in our region and across the Global South," the secretary said.
