President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on additional measures to improve waste management in Azerbaijan.
According to the decree, a State Agency for Waste Management will be established under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
The agency will oversee waste generation, collection, sorting, transportation, processing, and disposal, as well as collect waste fees.
The Cabinet of Ministers has two months to draft the agency's charter and structure. Within four months, proposals for improving waste legislation must be submitted.
Within five months, a draft National Strategy for 2027-2030 on solid household waste management will be prepared.
