Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has instructed the government to utilize the capacities of neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, for importing essential goods.
According to IRNA, the directive was issued after a meeting with ministers and the head of the Central Bank. Pezeshkian emphasized maximizing the potential of northern ports and developing alternative trade corridors.
He stated that if necessary, he would personally consult with leaders of neighboring countries and regional partners to quickly remove obstacles in the supply and transportation of essential goods and medicines.
The meeting also discussed the current situation regarding imports of necessary goods, medicines, and resources, considering limitations at some southern border checkpoints.
The Minister of Economy reported that after consultations with neighboring countries, numerous land border points and alternative transport routes have been activated to facilitate and increase imports.
