Slovakia intends to sign a gas supply agreement with Azerbaijan for at least 10 years.
Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Environment Minister Tomas Taraba announced this at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
He stated that the only issue is how to deliver the energy carriers to Central Europe.
"We are discussing signing a long-term contract with Azerbaijan for at least 10 years. Slovakia wants to diversify its energy supply, and Azerbaijan is a very reliable partner. The only question is how to deliver the energy resources to Central Europe," Taraba said.
The minister noted that both sides are currently discussing which pipelines and volumes can be used.
He also thanked Baku for its active support during the supply crisis months ago related to the situation in Ukraine. Tomas Taraba said Azerbaijan helped ensure uninterrupted supplies to Slovakia at that time.
