Significant developments are underway for the Zangezur Corridor. Despite pessimistic views regarding the "Trump Route" (TRIPP) amid elections in Armenia, escalating US-Iran tensions, and Russian pressure, the reality is different. On the contrary, interest in the Zangezur Corridor has increased amid rapid geopolitical processes in the region.
President Ilham Aliyev stated at the 31st Baku Energy Forum that the Zangezur Corridor will definitely be built. He noted that this branch of the East-West Corridor will be realized based on a document signed on August 8, 2025, at the White House.
Discussions between Azerbaijan and the US on expanding the Middle Corridor and developing the Zangezur Corridor are ongoing. Digital Development and Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev met with a US delegation led by Assistant Secretary of State Caleb Orr.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the TRIPP project is the anchor of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He emphasized that the project will allow American companies to invest in the interests of the region.
A framework agreement on strategic partnership between Armenia and the US was signed, covering mineral supply under TRIPP. Rubio noted that TRIPP aims to ensure peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus.
Responding to Russian claims, Rubio said the US does not intend to infringe on Armenia's sovereignty and supports peace in the region.
